Juice Fast, Day Five
Here we are on day five of the seven day juice fast. After the previous days of the juice fast, I feel great! And, if your looking for a way to lose weight fast, then a juice fast is the best way to detox your body and start the life of a healthy person. I no longer have hunger and I’m not obsessing over food all the time. This is a great thing, let me tell you!
I even went shopping at Trader Joe’s for more produce today and was not tempted by all the goodies they have there. It is a good feeling to detox your body and be free from the demands of the stomach.
I love the feeling at this point in the juice fast and it really does make it well worth the first few days of detox and struggle. Life is good! Late last night I found myself wanting food again. I decided to go for a walk and come home and go to bed. The hunger quickly went away and all was well.
Actually it was not real hunger. Real hunger can be felt in the throat. Hunger felt in the belly is actually not real hunger, although the belly tells the brain that it is real! When your body gets all the nutrients it needs, it does not feel hungry. The problem is that most people are nutrient deficient and therefore their stomach is constantly demanding food because the body lacks the nutrients it needs. This contributes to overeating and obesity. Eating a whole food, plant based diet, fiber rich, nutrient dense diet will eliminate this problem and keep you healthy!
When you get that “hunger” feeling on a fast, it helps to change your state of mind and do something different. That’s why we chose to take the dog for a walk. The feeling usually passes pretty quickly and it feels good to not give in to it. You feel as if you’ve conquered yourself, so to speak!
Skin Issues and Juicing
Today we will discuss skin issues – eczema, psoriasis, acne, dry skin, flaky skin, etc. During a juice fast when the body is in detox mode, it often uses the skin as a channel of elimination. Besides diet and environment, hormonal changes can also effect the skin. The skin is a reflection of what is going on inside. If there are skin issues, there are body issues! It is important to feed your body the right foods (plant based diet) and keep your colon clean so that the skin can be clear. Unfortunately in our world we try to topically get rid of the problem, but often it is an inside job. The soaps and cleansers that we use on our body are also very important in skin health. You want to use pure products with no chemicals! For a good detox of the body, I use Dr. Bronner’s peppermint soap, and highly recommend it. I also use pure skincare and make up (Afterglow Cosmetics because it is the purest makeup I have found).
Juicing and Combinations to use for Healthy Skin:
- 3 ounces of carrots, 3 ounces of apple, 1 ounce of parsley, 1 ounce of celery
- 3 ounces of carrot, 2 ounces of leaf lettuce or spinach, 1 ounce of artichoke, and 1 ounce of papaya
- One fourth pineapple with skin, organic only, one half apple seeded, 1/4 inch sliced ginger root
- 10 ounces of carrot juice and 6 ounces of spinach juice
- 10 ounces of carrot juice, 3 ounces of beet root juice, and 3 ounces of cucumber juice
- 16 ounces of carrot juice
Two days left to go! Keep up the great work and remember to journal about your experience! Also, use this time to draw nearer to God. It’s amazing how heightened your senses are during juicing with a plant based diet. Take advantage of it!
